HEALTH AND WELL-BEING PROJECTS
Soap Box Films has funding from Liverpool City Council and the PCT which will offer a further subsidy on top of the Big Lottery and Children in Need subsidy (currently at 58% until the end of May and 53% from June onwards) to run two 8 day video training projects around the subject of health and well-being. This means that the two groups we intend to work with will only need to provide a further £250 in order to run the projects. If you are interested in doing one of these to projects then you will need to send us an outline of your idea on our pre-designed proposal template; to request a copy of the proposal template email info@soapboxfilms.org.uk For further details download our Health and Well-Being Leaflet or contact us on 0151 7088008. The deadline for applications is 4th June 2010.

'STATUS UPDATE' WINS NATIONAL AWARD
A short film produced by Soap Box Films and young people from Fairbridge Merseyside wins 'Best Original Screenplay' at the Fairbridge Film and Animation Awards held at the BFI IMAX in London. Over a period of 8 days the young people worked with Soap Box Films to make an experimental short film that tackled issues such as online relationships, post-traumatic stress syndrome, war, and domestic abuse. A massive well done to all the young people who scripted, acted, filmed, directed, edited and composed the music for the film. To watch 'Status Update' and the other films entered click here.

BIG LOTTERY AND CHILDREN IN NEED SUBSIDISED PROJECTS WITH YOUNG PEOPLE

Soap Box Films have been awarded a Big Lottery grant and funding from Children in Need to develop work with young people (13-19) across Merseyside (Liverpool, Knowsley, St Helens, Halton, and Birkenhead, Bootle & Netherton). These video training projects have many outcomes including a 5-10 minute DVD, an enhancement of the participants' communication and team-working skills, a local and an annual screening, and the potential to gain an OCN accredited qualification.

We are trying to set up meetings in the different boroughs and areas to discuss, in detail, what this means for your area and organisations, and how this can fit in with what work you currently do with young people. We have already run projects during the summer and since in Kirkby, Runcorn and Widnes, Liverpool 8, Birkenhead, Central Liverpool and Netherton, and we have set-up future projects in Huyton. For more details on these projects visit our Big Lottery and Children in Need Project's page.

PLEASE NOTE - Until the end of May 2010 our subsidy is 58% off the total cost of the project.

If you are interested, Soap Box would like to come over to your area and meet with you face to face to discuss in further detail how we can work together. Initially, you could contact us for more detailed information on 0151 708 8008 or info@soapboxfilms.org.uk
