Video Training Projects
During our video training projects our Video Project Workers train participants on professional video production equipment and editing facilties, and enable them to make their own video productions (short films, documentaries, docu-dramas, animations, experimental pieces, music video productions, talk shows, magazine shows, news broadcasts etc) about issues that are significant in their lives. The learning process that participants go through during the training projects is one of the most important aspects and one of our key aims for the training projects is that the participants feel ownership through the project and take on lead roles throughout in areas such as writing, directing, sound recording, editing and production management.
The video training projects are constructed to provide participants with a taste of video production and to develop their technical skills and creative skills. We also design our courses to develop the participants' confidence, motivation, self-esteem and employability skills. Over the course of the training course, participants will generate and develop an idea, write a script, storyboard key sections, film, direct and record sound for their project, and edit together their video complete with a soundtrack and audio-visual effects. We can also offer a Level One or Level Two OCN qualification with our training packages. For more details on some of our training projects, feel free to browse the information beneath.
Please note - We can also offer specialised training in all areas of video production to individuals and groups. If you have a specific request then contact us to discuss your training needs.

Big Lottery Grant and Children in Need Projects - In June 2008 Soap Box began a major three year programme of work developing video projects with young people in disadvantaged communities across Merseyside. In Summer 2009 we were successful in achieving funding from Children In Need which will allow us to subsidise this work further into the future. Get in contact for more information of how your organisation can be a part of the subsidy we are offering for projects. Link to our Big Lottery and Children in Need Projects Page

Transformation Fund Projects - Soap Box Films have recently finished a series of projects, funded by the Transformation Fund, with adults with learning disabilities from Alderwood and Speke Resource centres in Merseyside. During the course of 6 months, three groups produced three short video productions. The first project, 'The History of Day Services' was a documentary that explore the developments in services for adults with learning disabilities over the years. The second project, 'Understading Me' is a documentary that examines what it is like to live with a disability and what people's perceptions are of adults with learning disabilities. The third and final project, 'Jane Jones and the Three Bullies' is a short stop-motion animation piece that deals with the issue of bullying. Throughout the three project, the participants generated and developed ideas, wrote scripts, storyboarded key sections, and filmed and edited their project. The videos were screened at Liverpool World Museum and were well recieved. Link to clip.
